Akandana Parking (Hirayu, transfer for Kamikochi)

Kamikochi is closed to private cars (including rental cars) all year beyond the Kama Tunnel entrance of the Kamikochi Koen Line. From the Gifu (Takayama) side, park at Akandana Parking in Hirayu (about 850 spaces) and transfer to a shuttle bus or taxi. Parking costs 600 yen per 24 hours for a car (Ministry of the Environment 2026 leaflet). The road to Kamikochi is open 5:00–19:00 in April–June and September–November, and 5:00–20:00 in July and August. In 2026 the season runs 17 April – 15 November; it is closed for winter from 16 November 2026 to mid-April 2027. From the Nagano side, transfer at the Sawando car parks (about 2,000 spaces).
